Frequently Asked Questions

01 Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most clients say it feels like quick little rubber band snaps that fade instantly. I use the Candela GentleMax Pro, which has a built-in cooling spray that makes treatments much more comfortable. When I ask my clients, they've all rated the pain a 1 or 2 out of 10. I always check in on you so you feel safe and cared for the whole time.

02 How many sessions will I need?

Most people need 6–8 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Laser works in cycles — it can only treat the hairs that are actively growing at the moment. At any time, only a portion of your hair is in that active stage, and the rest is sleeping, resting, or shedding.

Each appointment catches a new group of growing hairs, which is why you see better and better results over time.

03 When will I start seeing results?

Many clients start noticing smoother skin and slower regrowth after 2–3 sessions. Shaving becomes easier, hair feels finer, and you'll see more empty shedding patches as treatments continue. Staying consistent is the key to the best results.

04 What areas do you treat?

I can treat almost any area with unwanted hair — underarms, bikini/Brazilian, legs, face, arms, chest, stomach, back, and more.

For male clients, I also offer most body areas, with the exception of the genitals and buttocks, as those areas are not included in my treatment menu. If you're ever unsure whether an area is safe or treatable, just ask — I'm always happy to guide you.

05 How do I prepare for my appointment?

Great prep means better results and safer skin. Here's exactly what to do before your laser session:

  • Avoid all sun and tanning for 2 weeks. No real sun, tanning beds, spray tans, or self-tanner. Your skin needs to be at its natural color so the laser can safely target the hair.
  • Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment. Use a clean razor and shave closely. Please don't wax, tweeze, or thread — the laser needs the hair follicle under the skin.
  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin. No lotion, deodorant, oils, makeup, perfume, or skincare on the area being treated.
  • Pause retinol or exfoliating acids for 3–5 days. No retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or scrubs on the area so your skin isn't extra sensitive.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing. This keeps the area calm and reduces friction afterward.
  • Complete your medical clearance call. All first-time clients must do a quick call with my nurse practitioner before their session. The NP will text you 1–2 days before your appointment to set it up. It's fast and only takes a few minutes.
06 What's the downtime like?

Laser hair removal has very little downtime. You might see mild redness or tiny bumps for a few hours — totally normal. Just avoid heavy sweating, heat, hot showers, and sauna for 24 hours. Avoid deodorant and makeup on treated areas for 24 hours, and no active tanning for 2 weeks. You can go right back to your normal day.

07 Is laser safe for all skin tones?

Yes. The Candela GentleMax Pro safely treats light and dark skin tones. I customize your settings based on your skin type and hair color so you're always treated safely and professionally.

08 Do you treat minors?

Yes — I can treat minors as long as a parent or legal guardian is physically present, signs consent, and stays for the entire appointment.

01 What is PRP and how does it work?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma — it's made from your own blood. We spin your blood in a centrifuge to separate the plasma that's full of growth factors. Those growth factors help your skin repair itself (microneedling) or help strengthen and support healthier, fuller hair (scalp injections). It's 100% natural, with no chemicals or fillers added.

02 What does PRP help with?

PRP is amazing for:

  • Smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin
  • Softening acne scars and fine lines
  • Improving overall texture and tone
  • Strengthening thinning hair
  • Supporting fuller, thicker hair growth

It works with your body, not against it — that's why people love it.

03 Does PRP microneedling or PRP hair restoration hurt?

Microneedling is very tolerable because I apply a strong numbing cream first. Most clients describe it as a light vibration or stamping feeling.

PRP hair injections can feel a little sensitive on certain spots of the scalp, but the discomfort is quick and manageable. I take my time and make sure you're comfortable throughout the whole appointment.

04 How many sessions do I need?

For the best results, most clients need:

  • PRP Microneedling: 3–6 sessions, 4 weeks apart
  • PRP Hair Restoration: 3–6 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart

PRP works by building progress little by little — each session boosts your collagen or hair growth cycle. After your initial series, maintenance every 6–12 months is usually recommended.

05 How do I prepare for my PRP appointment?

A few simple steps make your treatment work even better:

  • Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of — hydration means higher-quality PRP
  • Avoid all alcohol for 48 hours beforehand
  • Avoid blood-thinning supplements (fish oil, vitamin E, ibuprofen, etc.)
  • Arrive with a clean face or clean scalp — no lotion, makeup, sunscreen, oils, or hair products
  • Pause retinol or exfoliants for 3–5 days before microneedling
  • Medical clearance: All first-time clients must complete a quick clearance call. My nurse practitioner will text you 1–2 days before your appointment to set it up. It's fast, simple, and required for your safety.
06 What's the downtime like?

PRP Microneedling: Expect a little redness and warmth for 24–48 hours, similar to a light sunburn. Avoid makeup, sweating, and active skincare for 24 hours.

PRP Hair Restoration: Your scalp may feel a little tender for a day. Avoid washing your hair, sweating, or using any hair products for 24 hours.

Most clients go right back to their normal day afterward.

07 Is PRP safe?

Yes — PRP is one of the safest treatments available because it uses your own plasma. There are no added chemicals or fillers, and reactions are extremely rare. I follow strict medical protocols and use professional-grade equipment to make sure your treatment is safe and effective every time.

01 What is a VI Peel?

A VI Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel that works on all skin types and tones. It's a blend of powerful ingredients — including TCA, salicylic acid, phenol, vitamin C, and tretinoin — that work together to resurface your skin, fade discoloration, and kick your collagen production into high gear. It's one of the most effective peels available, and I love it because it delivers real results with minimal downtime.

02 What skin concerns does the VI Peel treat?

The VI Peel is incredibly versatile. It can improve:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage and age spots
  • Acne and active breakouts
  • Post-acne scarring and hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Melasma
  • Overall dullness and lack of radiance

There are different VI Peel formulas available, and I'll recommend the one that's right for your specific skin goals.

03 Does it hurt?

Most clients feel a mild tingling or warming sensation during the application — it's very tolerable. The peel goes on quickly and I walk you through every step so you know exactly what to expect. Most people are surprised by how easy it is.

04 What is the peeling process like?

You'll leave the peel on for 4–6 hours after your appointment, then rinse it off at home. Peeling typically starts around day 2–3 and lasts for a few days. It can range from light flaking to more noticeable shedding depending on your skin. By day 5–7, your skin will be fresh, smooth, and glowing.

I send you home with a full aftercare kit so you know exactly what to do each day.

05 How do I prepare for my VI Peel?
  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks before your appointment
  • Stop using retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and exfoliating treatments 5–7 days before
  • Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face — no moisturizer, sunscreen, or oils
  • Let me know about any medications you're taking, especially Accutane or antibiotics
  • Plan your peel around your social calendar — you'll want to avoid any big events during the peeling phase (days 3–6)
06 How many sessions do I need?

Many clients see a noticeable difference after just one peel. For deeper concerns like melasma, acne scarring, or significant sun damage, a series of 3–4 peels spaced 4–6 weeks apart will give you the most dramatic results. I'll help you map out a plan based on what your skin needs.

07 Is the VI Peel safe for all skin tones?

Yes — the VI Peel is formulated to work safely on all Fitzpatrick skin types, including deeper skin tones that can be more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation with other peels. It's one of the reasons I chose to offer it. I always assess your skin before treatment to make sure we're using the right formula for you.

01 What is the Smooth AF Membership?

Smooth AF is my monthly membership program designed for clients who want to make laser hair removal (and other treatments) a regular part of their routine — at a price that makes it easy to stay consistent. Members get monthly sessions, exclusive savings, and priority booking. It's the smartest way to get the results you want without paying full price every time.

02 What's included in each membership tier?

There are three tiers — Bronze, Silver, and Pink Diamond — each designed for different treatment goals and budgets. Every tier includes monthly laser sessions, member-only pricing, and access to exclusive perks. You can view the full breakdown of what's included in each tier on the Memberships page.

03 Is there a contract or commitment?

Memberships are billed monthly. There's no long-term contract — but I do ask for a 30-day notice before canceling so we can make sure you get the most out of your remaining sessions. Consistency is what gets results, so I designed the membership to make it easy to keep showing up.

04 Do my sessions roll over if I miss a month?

Sessions do not roll over month to month. I encourage members to book as soon as their billing date hits so they never miss out. If something comes up, reach out and we'll do our best to find a solution.

05 Can I upgrade or downgrade my membership?

Yes — you can change your tier at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect on your next billing cycle. Just reach out and I'll take care of it for you.

06 Can I use my membership for treatments other than laser?

Depending on your tier, yes. Higher-tier memberships include access to add-on treatments and member discounts on VI Peels and PRP services. Check the full tier breakdown on the Memberships page or reach out and I'll walk you through what's available to you.

07 How do I sign up?

You can join directly from the Memberships page or ask me about it at your next appointment. I'll help you figure out which tier makes the most sense for your goals and how many sessions you have left in your current treatment plan.
